Chia: The Indian Running Food

Chia seeds are one of the most popular superfoods in the world, they are loaded with fiber, protein, omega 3 fatty acids, and several micronutrients (calcium, phosphorus, magnesium).

They are easy to digest when properly prepared and are a very versatile ingredient that are easily added to recipes with bountiful benefits for the body and brain.

Chia means «strength» in the native Mayan language, and they were known as the «Indian running food» because runners and warriors used them for sustenance while running long distances or during battle.

We have black chia and white chia, planted in the inter-Andean valleys of Peru, on the banks of rivers by small farmers who complement their fruit crops, among others.
